Exceeded expectations.
I was told to go to Temple Expresso, but wanted to try something else on a whim, and I'm so glad that I did.
The people working the counter were incredibly kind. I was greeted by a very kind woman and her tall barista, who was talking about shaving his beard for the first time last night. It felt like a very personal experience. The two of them ended up congratulating me on having gotten married three weeks ago and gave me nothing but smiles as I drank my coffee and read my paperback.
The woman extended her courtesy to even asking if she could turn on the music. The thoughtfulness, kindliness, and great espresso made this experience memorable and welcoming.
When I'm in the area, I'll be sure to come back! Thanks again. -

I snagged some breakfast on my way out of town. We were the only people at the cafe at around 8am on this summer day.
The menu is much more extensive than you might expect for a cafe, both in the food and drink department. It was tough to decide what to get! I got the Mayan Chai Latte to go, which had a kick of unique spice to my regular chai latte. To eat, I had a breakfast bagel that was slated to have salsa and mayo; I held the mayo, but it was still delicious. Bagels were actually pretty decent, too.
Worst part is that I dropped half of my bagel on the floor! They offered to make me a new one right away, which was really kind, but I didn't have any time to wait. (It did take a bit longer to get my food than I expected - not offensively so, but I had no more time.)
I'd definitely stop by again. -

HAVE AGAIN: Sesame bagel was good. Next time try lunch sandwiches. Really, really nice place and great service.
NOT HAVE AGAIN: I did not really care for the breakfast sandwich: egg, sausage, cheese, sauce on a sesame bagel. Just kind of an odd flavor. -

Very friendly service and they had a wonderful, varied selection. We both had the Barista's oatmeal with fruit. The lavender mint latte was very tasty and a good blend of flavors. There is a lot of seating inside and there are a couple tables out front. If you live in the area, this will easily become one your favorite places. If you are visiting or dropping your student off for the school year, as I was, you'll discover the place you are certainly going to come to each time you are in Davis.

Unobtrusive, Barista Brew sits quietly near the corner of the block. With popular cafes scattered throughout town, this place is much less populated than the others. It's small and intimate, if you're into that.
For some reason, I like that they don't play music. It's serene, excepting the hum of air conditioning and other machinery. You're accompanied by 2-3 studious college students and the odd baby boomer peacefully reading the news.
They seem to have an ever-rotating menu, as the chalkboard has been erased time & time again. The barista who took my order was cordial and knowledgeable when explaining menu items to me. She made my drink fairly quickly and took it directly to my table.
RASPBERRY WHITE MOCHA SPINNER: I couldn't get enough of this ^__^ Cold, creamy, and just lightly flavored with raspberry-- just enough of a caffeine kick to get me through the sweltering day.
A very classic, respectable coffee shop. Ideal for solving writer's block and escaping the frenzy of daily life.
